Defensive Linemen on Hollywood: Lamar Lundy

The least known of the Fearsome Foursome was Lamar Lundy and he sure got the short end of the stick in Hollywood compared to his linemates. Lundy only got a couple of roles and the only one that aired he was in a big cyclops costume

In the sci-fi series Lost in Space he was The Giant Cyclops. At least he got paid.

Defensive Linemen in Hollywood: Deacon Jones

Here is a complete list of Deacon Jones's films. It wasn't as prolific as Rosey Grier or Merlin Olsen, two other members of the Fearsome Foursome, but it was solid.

In 1969 he got his first role in Bewitched- Sam and the Beanstalk (1969) as a guard of the giant's castle.

Jones then gave Bobby Brady great advice, that one can play football and be in the Glee Club on The Brady Bunch

A year later, in 1972 Jones starred with seveal other football players in Banacek- "Let's Hear It for a Living Legend" as Joe Fabian.

Also in 1972, Jones played himself on The Odd Couple- "Felix's First Commerical"

Also in 1972 Jones played himself, this time in Black Gunn which starred Jim Brown and Bernie Casey. It was uncredited and not listed on IMDB.

After a six-year hiatus Jones returned to the big screen in Heaven Can Wait as Gorman, a nasty defensive lineman

That same year be played a black Viking named Trall in The Norseman

In the late-1970s he also had a fight scene with Wonder Woman in that series along with Roman Gabriel and Lawrence McCutcheon

In 1983 in the TV show The Fall Guy - Win One for the Gipper, he played a football player.

On Good vs Evil the TV Series he played Corps Narrator/Himself

Defensive Linemen in the Movies: Rosey Grier

Rosey Grier is a dignified man. He was a political activist for civil rights, an ordained minister, like to needlepoint, was a helluva football player, a singer and an actor. In the late 1960s he had several roles in television serioes, to get a fuller list click here.

However, he did get to play one of the most undignified roles in football player-turned-actor movies, The Thing with Two Heads in which he played, well, Jack Moss, a man with two heads.

However, he played quite a few other roles and like Olsen, Ben Davidson, Jim Brown, he was a working actor for quite a long time. He played Big Jim in Carter's Army, a made-for-tv movie that is sometimes listed as Black Brigade.

He had a recurring role in Daniel Boone (TV Series) as Gabe Cooper, a part native American, part African slave who had been freed.

Another key role was as  Redwood Rosenbloom in Timber Tramps.

On the hit TV show McMillan & Wife Grier's role as as Bobo Johnson

On the TV show Kojak, he played Salathiel Harms, not unlike Huggy Bear on Starsky and Hutch

Before the Thing with Two Heads Grier was cast as Gary Brown in Skyjacked

In 1975-76 Greier played Benjy or Fats on Movin' On, the TV series.

In 1981, on The White Shadow TV Series) he played Ezra Davis, a fictional Los Angeles Ram

In 1979 Grier played Virgil Plummer on The Love Boat

Grier remained active in Hollywood from 1966 through the late-1990s. Not a bad run for a good man.
